Mandatory Industrial training
To convey the students the mandatory rule of University of Pune Industrial training to be done. Explain how to apply to companies for the training. Establish rapport with pharmaceutical companies to accommodate students of SKNCOP for the training. (Correspondence with personnel departments via emails and phone calls) Sending official letters to companies in advance to Diwali and summer vacation. Setting Proforma form the training and training report to be submitted after the training. Keeping the record of all the training reports and certificates issued by the industries to the students.

Grooming the students, Career guidance
Efforts taken are- Personality development : lectures by experts, language lab sessions, group discussions to help the students with poor English communication. Exposing the students to all possible fields of further education since their first year – students approach TPC for it as well as career guidance lectures are arranged.

Placement activity
In final year B.Pharm. Student’s data base is prepared which reflects what a particular student wishes to do after B. Pharm. Does he/ she has finalized which stream of further education he/ she wants to pursue or is he/she is ready for the job. Directing the students to career counselors ( if needed especially for further education. Displaying on notice board various entrance exam schedule and dates. If job is the option stated then which type of job he/she wants to opt. Take efforts for placements of such students. Sending invite to companies for campus interviews or directing the students to the interviews if company is not coming to campus. Arranging jobs through personal contacts of staff members.

Keeping Records
To keep records of student data base, details of campus interviews/ interview offer letters, employer feedback. Record of each batch passed out with respect to placement.

Aim
The main aim of our training and placement cell is to act as contact place and facilitator to arrange campus visits and conduct of recruitment process of the prospective employers for the purposeful placement of graduating students of the college.

The cell also seeks opportunities for the betterment of institute and industry interaction through participation in institute-industry-interaction programs and by inviting experts from the industry and related fields to deliver guest lectures on various aspects and also provides guidance to students for their better placement and careers.


Objectives
Training and Placement cell has been formed with the following as major objectives:

 

Assist students to develop their academic and career interests, and their short and long-term goals through individual counselling and group discussion.
Assist students to development and implement successful job search strategies.
Work with faculty members, department heads and administration to integrate career planning with academic curriculum.
Empower students with life long career decision making skills.
Providing resources and activities to facilitate the career planning process.
Act as an interface among students, alumni, and the employment community.
Awareness in the students regarding future career options.
Assisting different companies in recruiting candidates as per their requirements.
Co-ordinating summer training/internship programme.
Bridging gap between Industry and Academia.

Interview Tips


Remember..

  1. BE ON TIME!
  2. Maintain eye contact with the person or people who are interviewing you.
  3. Be positive, avoid negatives. Don’t talk-down your past employers or coworkers.
  4. Try to connect your responses to the company you are interviewing with. Use stories that are
  5. relevant to your desired position.
  6. Silence your cell phone. Double check just before the interview. It’s important.
  7. Bring extra copies of your resume.
  8. Bring something to take notes (note pad or steno pad).
  9. Know something about the company. Be familiar with the mission statement & corporate values. Be familiar with the history of the company & any major events such as mergers or take-over’s.
  10. Interviews can be a stressful experience. Don’t rub your chin, twirl your hair, or anything else along those lines. It makes you look nervous and unsure of yourself.
  11. Be prepared to talk about your accomplishments. Review them and be confident about the details.
  12. Think of one or two questions to ask at the end of the interview. It shows interest and that you care
  13. Know that if you have a facebook page, My Space page or Blog, the interviewer has probably read them. Going on a job hunt and having the worst parts of your life on display is not good.
  14. Prepare and practice. Review the job qualifications and think of relevant examples of your work that indicate you have the qualifications the employer is looking for. Once you’ve done that, practice your responses with a friend, family member or in front of a mirror.
  15. Provide clear, concise responses to the interview questions. Don’t ramble. No “ahs” and “ums.”
  16. Most employers want to learn about your accomplishments in one or more of the following areas:
    1. Working with others
    2. Developing new ideas, products & procedures.
    3. Solving important problems
    4. Building & leading teams
    5. Using sophisticated knowledge & skills

Phone Interview


This kind of interview is often the first contact with an employer. A phone interview is also used when candidates reside in other countries. The most important thing to remember in phone interviewing is that you are working towards a face to face discussion. Phone interviewing techniques.

  1. Show enthusiasm. Remember that you do not have the advantage of interview body language.
  2. Hold the receiver well. The mouthpiece should be 5 cm from your lips. Speak normally or a notch slower.
  3. Make sure there is no background music.
  4. Switch your mobile phone off.
  5. Switch your computer speaker off.
  6. Switch the front bell off (if you can).
  7. Lock your pets away.
  8. Avoid being too cheerful or overly concern.
  9. Make a list of things to say and of your strengths and keep them handy.
  10. Practice a phone interview with a friend.
  11. Always be positive even if this job change has not been your choice.
  12. Do not smoke, chew gum or drink tea during the interview.
  13. Avoid salary discussions in a phone interview.
  14. Ask when it is convenient to meet for a face to face interview.

Overview of Phone Interviews


Show interest and enthusiasm. Keep the receiver in front of your lips and speak clearly and slowly. Do not use slang and try to minimize accents. Write notes and do Job Interview Preparation and Wage Research. Concentrate on your positive in the phone interview. At the close of the phone interview ask for a face to face interview.

10 Smart Ways to Crack Group Discussion

Always enter the room with a piece of paper and a pen. In the first two minutes, jot down as many ideas as you can.

  1. When you are talking on any topic, ensure that the group hears you.
  2. Be clear and audible when you express your views.
  3. Try practicing Group Discussion before you attend the final one. This will help you to get rid of the phobia.
  4. If you want to give a meaningful contribution then you should have a good knowledge base. Your contribution must be relevant and productive.
  5. To be a good communicator, you must put forth your arguments logically.
  6. The quality of what you said is more valuable than the quantity.
  7. Be careful that the "something different" you state is relevant to the topic being debated.
  8. You must be clearly seen to be attempting to build a consensus.
  9. You must demonstrate the fact that you are capable and inclined to work as part of the team is one of the 10 tips to crack group discussion.
