The department offers courses in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry to the students of engineering disciplines at I to II semester levels, both in theory and practical. It also provides supporting guidance to the students of all engineering branches in their courses and project work.

The department constantly strives to create an atmosphere conducive to academics & higher learning. We in the department believe in inculcating scientific temperamentfor developing application oriented thinking skills.

The department of First Year Engineering covers the core engineering disciplines of Electrical engineering, Civil engineering, IT engineering, Electronics engineering and Mechanical engineering alongside the scientific disciplines of Computing, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. In this students are expressing themselves in front of the entire class. They are motivated to present an idea in front of the class and then defend it. As this was related to engineering students hence they were instructed to interact in English. This activity helped students to improve in their interaction, presentation and also stage presence. Engineering Games is related to engineering knowledge. For example, Sudoku quiz was conducted to improve the logic and mathematical analysis of the students. This helps the students in building their logic in mathematics as well as other subjects related to engineering. Quiz related to aptitude testing was also conducted in order to improve their aptitude and to evaluate their quality of ideas associated with it.
